Coach Justin James pitched for PLNU in 2002 and 2003. He began his coaching career at New Mexico Highlands University where he also earned a masters in exercise and sports sciences/sports management. He returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach in 2010-2016.
He moved on to the University of California at San Diego as pitching coach for the 2017 and 2018 seasons. While at UCSD he saw pitching staffs that appeared in back to back NCAA Divison 2 World Series, including a 2nd place finish in 2017. In August of 2018, he accepted the position of Head Baseball Coach at PLNU. Having spent almost a decade total, between playing and coaching, Coach James fully understands what it means being a baseball player at PLNU. Spending two years as an assistant at a school that reached the World Series means he knows what it takes to win. It is an exciting time to be a part of the program. |

Land Stadium, named after Hall of Fame baseball coach Carroll Land. Main colors are green and sunset gold with a Sea Lion as the mascot. The university mission statement reads, "PLNU exists to provide higher education in a vital Christian community where minds are engaged and challenged, character is modeled and formed, and service is an expression of faith. Being of Wesleyan heritage, we strive to be a learning community where grace is foundational, truth is pursued, and holiness is a way of life." The university vision statement reads, “Discovering vocation, expanding horizons, depending faith, transforming communities” Boasting a track/soccer field, tennis courts, baseball field, and basketball gymnasium that overlooks the Pacific Ocean, it is hard pressed to find a more beautiful place to attend school and play collegiate athletics. |
